Bonjour and Bienvenue (Welcome)!

I am an American mama who has been living in France with my Frenchie husband and two children for the last 10 years. Through the years, I have been blessed to learn the art of French cooking and I would love to share it with you! These recipes are tried and true, and much loved by both my French and American families! In these recipes, I share my love for cooking, French culture with you all while adding a little “Oh la la” into your cooking… Bon Appetite!

Outside of my little kitchen, I love reading, hunting for mushrooms in our forests, and traveling around France and the world.

Merci beaucoup (thank you so much) for your visit and I hope you enjoy this small piece of France from my kitchen to yours.

Bon Appetite and a bientot!

About FRENCH cooking and Me
Were you always a good cook?
If you ask this question to my husband he will laugh and begin to tell you the story of my first attempt at soup, to which he describes as “water with little things that float.” Oh how I wanted to learn how to make a good soup! I later bought Williams and Sonoma’s “Soup” book and little by little began my cooking adventure.
What’s your favorite herb or spice?
It depends on the season but in general anything fresh! I have a small herb garden and fresh herbs add such a lively dynamic to any salad dressing, soup, or hot or cold dish. By far my favorite herb is basil and oregano. I also have fresh ground tumeric from friends in Nepal that goes great with just about anything!
Do you eat like this every day?
Ha! About twice a week I’ll cook a “real” meal, otherwise I’m a simple woman who loves to dress up simple food with a few extra spices.
What’s your favorite food to make?
Honestly, whatever pleases someone, that’s what I love to make. Whether it’s a friend who loves eating my homemade mayonnaise on Everything, my husband’s deer stew, or my American family’s favorite French mixed berry crumble, it brings me joy to make what brings others joy.
About Life in France
Do you actually live in France?
Yup! I moved to France with my French husband about 12 years ago from the U.S. I am thankful to return once a year to the U.S. to visit family and friends and to dose-up on my home culture.
What are other activities that you do outside of cooking?
After being a homeschooling mama to two middle schoolers and a wifey, I love the nature and working in my vegetable garden when it’s the season. We also work with the refugees in our area and have a humanitarian project of making washable sanitary pads in Nepal. It’s never a dull day!
